Hot Stove - 11-16-17

Joel Sherman writes that Mets OF Michael Conforto is healing quicker than expected, will begin to swing in January, and will report to ST 'on time with limited duty'.

It is now reported that the Braves will lose prospects after their illegal acts in the past in the International signing market. One might be top prospect SS Kevin Maitan.

Minnesota voided the contract of International bonus baby ($3.1mil) 16-yr. old SS, Jelfry Marte. Marte has a reported vision problem and did not pass his physical. He is now a free agent and can sign with any club of his choosing.

My guess is this $3.1mil will immediately be considered as part of a deal for Japan's Shohei Ohtani.

RHP Jake Peavey wants to return to the majors.

Ken Rosenthal has reported that the Mets are interested in RP Mike Minor.

        1st Rd (7th overall) in 2009 out of Vanderbilt - will turn                 30/yrs. old next month - 2017 stats: 65-G, 2.55, 1.02, 77.2-IP,         88-K, only 22-BB

Seattle RHP Thyago Vieira to the Chicago White Sox, for International money (looks to be setting up for an Ohtano run)

Peavy? Wow. Maybe he feels healthy after a year off. His last top season was around 2008.

Conforto news is great - may his rehab continue without a hitch.

Wonder what would happen with Maitan? I'd recommend a lottery for him, but I am sure they must have rules on that.

Mets could really use Otani, too - who couldn't use a guy like him?

Wouldn't mind the Mets doing a Minor deal.

The Mets got Tom Seaver after the Braves had to give him up to a lottery.

Didn't the Mets sign a 16 y.o. named Jefry Marte around the same time as Wilmer? If I remember correctly, he played 3B while Wilmer was the SS.
