Ex-Mets OF-1B, Jay Bruce, is seeking a 5-year, $80-90mil contract.
The following ex-Mets have become a free agent -
RHP Miller Diaz (Arizona), RHP Rhiner Cruz (Atlanta), OF Matt Tulasosopo (Atlanta), 1B Aderlin Rodriguez (Balt), RHP Domingo Tapia (Cincy), 2B Reid Brignac (Hou), LHP Ike Davis (LAA), C Cam Maron (Mia), and RHP Vic Black (SF)
OF J.D. Martinez (Agent: Scott Boras) is looking for a $200mil deal, projected to be over seven years.
Ex-Met Chip Hale to be named the Atlanta Braves bench coach.
21-year out Cuban OF, Julio Pablo Martinez, is defecting to the USA... 2017 stats in Cuba: .333/.469/.498, 264-PA, 52-BB, only 30-Ks... stats for Canadian-American Association: .297/.345/.449.
From Rich MacLeod - 'in 2009, the Mets rejected a trade that would have sent Fernando Martinez, Bobby Parnell, Jon Niese, and Ruben Tejada to Toronto... for Roy Halladay.

is that cuban guy any good?
also I dont know how Rich macleod is but if that trade was true hopefully that person has long been fired...
F Mart Niese, Tejada & Parnell for Halladay ? Damn we would’ve been fleeced ;-p
At the time Parnell was uninjured, Niese was on the upswing, Martinez was the uber-prospect and Tejada was, well, Tejada. It actually seems like a reasonable offer. They probably didn't want to pay Halladay's salary.
The trades you don't make - ouch.
Logan Morrison - cheaper than Bruce - a more likely choice.
Sign the Cuban - ask questions later. Bring Cespedes a box of stogies.
The pass on Halladay at the time made sense.
Eddie -
very few 21 year olds are 'that good'.
especially if their stats are only in Cuban 'A ball' league
BTW - McLeod is a very connected national writer... used to write for Mack's Mets
I know .. just being sarcastic but damn if Omar made that trade lol
