Hot Stove - 11-27-17
First 'big deal' of the Hot Stove season - Texas signs P Doug Fister to a 1-year, $4mil deal, with a team option for 2019.
Should you allow your Venezuelan prospects to return home in the off season? Well, Milwaukee Brewers prospect infielder, Javier Betancourt was flown to Milwaukee to be treated after being shot during an argument in his home country.
Minnesota 1B, Byung-Ho Park, returns to his home country of Korea, inking a $1.4mil contract (leaving $6,5mil on the table) with the Nexen Heroes of the KBO League.
It is reported that the Washington Nations will NOT resign injury plagued outfielder (OF5?), Jayson Werth.
LAD outfielder, Andre Ethier, (OF4???) plans on playing in 2018.

Ethier has had 58 at bats the past 2 seasons AND will be 36 next April? If he wants a minor league contract, OK.
Werth 39 next may? Ditto.
Fister? I'd rather have Corey Oswalt start. Turning 34, ERA over 4.70 the past 2 years. 4.70 needs to be considered an unacceptable ERA in Queens again.
Let the kids go to Venezuela for the winter, as long as they live and sleep in body armor. Wilmer, however, needs to stay right here.
Don't we already have Werth and Ethier on our roster? He goes by the name of David Wright.
Werth and Ethier are Lou Gehrig and Cal Ripken compared to the Captain of the Social Security Disability team.
Any time a player enters into rehab, David Wright says "I feel your pain."
Ted Williams missed 3 years due to World War II; Wright missed 2 years due to Lumbar 3.
Off of my Ted Williams joke, I looked at his #s for the first time in decades. WOW.
From age 20-23, he its .356/.482/.642. Then 3 full years missed in WWII. He returns and in the next 4 years, he goes .350/.495/.642.
In those 8 years, he averaged 129 RBIs in 148 games.
Man, could we use one of those.
Re Ted: THEN he goes off to Korea for most of '52 (6G) & '53 (37G). In those 41G he hit 410.
