It was time for a re-Phil of Phil Evans. Nice.

A small market team in Kansas City behaving like a small market team by buying out Minor for $1.25 million rather than paying him $10 million. He earned $4 million the year before so I'm thinking around $6.5 is probably what he'd command off one excellent year (and several mediocre ones preceding it). He's interesting but not my top choice. Maybe the conversion to the pen last year was a great thing for him or maybe he'll revert to form.

The better value choice might be Tony Watson who had a down year in Pittsburgh before getting traded to LA where he was his usual excellent self. Watson earned $5 million. He's also a left handed reliever and for his career sports a very nice 2.68 ERA with a WHIP around 1.000. He's not a power arm but is very effective in getting people out. Now that the platoon-happy Skipper is mercifully gone, perhaps smarter minds will remember he was a closer against both left and right handed batters.
