Jose Berrios, a right hander from Minnesota Twins

More than one team already looking at. He's on a one year at $5.6 million. Would be about half if traded for rest of season.

Scherzer and Verlander are old. Wouldn't acquire because the Mets rotation could probably use bolstering after this 2021 season as well.

Minnesota is out of the race already and has significant upgrades to make.

Other possibilities with Stroman down with the hip.

The from within stuff. You have a few guys here already that could potentially be stretched out for rotation roles. Drew Smith quietly had a nice outing yesterday going three impressive innings. T0 me, this guy has always been close and maybe now has fully arrived. Worth a look. Another guy I never fully understood why he wasn't primal is Corey Oswalt, as I mentioned yesterday. This guy is close too. May just need one more stellar go-to pitch added in.

Then you have Seth Lugo (age 31) and Sean Penn-Foley who can be very impressive. Robert Gsellman is currently out hurt. Jeurys Familia (age 31) has also been quietly under the radar effective this season, and could possibly be used in starts requirinf a triage of pitchers.

What's the problem here besides obvious injuries?

AAA Syracuse. The cabinet is pretty bare there. Just things looking for food really and the cookie people hovering about. The Covid 19 2020 season spoiled AAA. It's in a rebuild.

Thinking deeper. Ouch, it hurts.

What about a return to the future with ex-Mat starter Anthony Kay?

Not in the Blue jay's five-man rotation in Toronto. And even with Steve Matz purportedly out with the Covid 19 variant thing and all. But Anthony Kay (a lefty mind you) is young and still has some solid promise about him. May be worth a thought to re-aquire. Could also add some depth from the left-side behind David Peterson (whom I still 100% believe in), and with Joey Lucchesi going "Tommy John" and all, we need another lefty starter.

Blue Jays are just slightly under .500% won/loss. Might bite with Kay not in 5-man for help form the Mets who are deep at several positions this season. Curious idea.

Thank goodness that the Mets went out and signed Taijuan this season. This young man is a winner. Otherwise it would be just Jake, Cosmo, and Newman in the five-man.(Oy vey)
