Carson Williams
Mack's spin -
A second tier prep shortstop.
A team might want to draft him as a pitcher, but Williams loves to hit. And he is godd at it and getting better every day. ++ power projection will move him him to third before he turns pro.

Carson Williams, SS/RHP, Torrey Pines HS, San Diego—NR
There’s been a lot of recent chatter about Williams, who is a two-way player committed to California. A shortstop and righthander, some scouts prefer Williams and his 92-95 mph fastball on the mound at the next level, but he reportedly prefers hitting and has shown impressive power so far this spring. After adding more weight in the offseason, evaluators are putting plus power grades on Williams, who has been mis-hitting balls and still sending them over the fence to the pull side. A shortstop now, scouts think Williams might have to eventually move to third base as he continues to fill out and add weight. With plus arm strength, he should be able to make the position work and seems to now have the power to profile there.

Carson Williams, SS/RHP, GBG Navy
Williams was one of the breakout stars of the event as he crushed baseballs all weekend en route to the MVP award after a championship victory. He’s got all kinds of athleticism that play both within the swing itself and off the mound where he impressed earlier in the week working 90-94 mph with some serious arm speed.

Carson Williams, SS, GBG Navy 2021
Williams came into the championship as the 148th ranked player in the 2021 class with a ride to California but took his game, and likely his ranking, to the next level by winning the MVP for the champion GBG team. Williams hit .417 in eight games with four extra base hits, eight runs scored and 10 RBI. To highlight his all-around tool set, he also picked up a three inning save, working 91-94 mph with his fastball to go with a low to mid-80s slider while throwing 73% strikes.
3/27/19 - 2020 Torrey Pines RHP/INF Carson Williams is listed at 6-foot 155 pounds and presents an slim-athletic build with room for growth. Williams has appeared in 5 games for the Falcons making 3 starts over 24 INN and striking out 25 while compiling a 1.75 ERA 1.25 WHIP and 232 OBA. Making his biggest start of the season he looked poised and confident despite allowing 8 hits and 5 runs (3 earned) over 4 ⅔ innings. Showed some rhythm in his mechanics while keeping his shoulders level, lower half inline and overall good body balance. Lower half is underutilized, lacking lower half extension and push towards home plate. Fastball showed arm-side run in the 80-84 mph range and was effective when located down in the zone. Displayed a breaking ball with good feel for the pitch in 71-74 mph range that broke on a 11/5 plane with sharp late movement down in the zone with the same arm speed and release point as his fastball. Change-up was flashed a handful of times in the 74-76 mph range in off-set timing attempts but without swing and miss downward movement. Young pitcher with poise gaining valuable innings and putting himself in position to potentially burst onto the scene in his junior and senior seasons.
