BINGHAMTON, NY – The
Binghamton Rumble Ponies (11-24) fell to the Bowie Baysox 10-0 on Sunday
afternoon as Bowie won the six-game series at Mirabito Stadium.
Bowie (25-9) got on the board
in the first on an Adley Rutschman two-run home run off of Luc Rennie,
Rutschman’s tenth of the year. Bowie would score runs in six of the first seven
innings. Patrick Dorian had a two-run triple to center in the third, Chris
Hudgins hit a two-run homer in the fourth, and Doran Turchin tacked on a solo
homer in the fifth. Turchin now has three homers in his last two games after
not having any coming into Saturday’s contest.
Rennie (0-3) would allow six
earned runs over five innings in the loss. Mike Baumann allowed just two hits
over four scoreless and Cameron Bishop (3-0) picked up the win pitching five
scoreless innings in relief with no walks and eight strikeouts. Bishop also
pitched four scoreless frames in Tuesday night’s series opener.
The Rumble Ponies have a day
off on Monday before continuing their 12-game homestand as they welcome the
Portland Sea Dogs (Red Sox AA Affiliate) to Mirabito Stadium on Tuesday night
for a six-game series with first pitch at 6:35 PM.
POSTGAME NOTES: Carlos Cortes was 0-4 ending his
8-game hitting streak...Wagner Lagrange went 1-4 and now has gotten a hit in 9
of his last 10 games...Luis Carpio was 2-3 and has four hits along with a home
run over his last two games.
