Tom Brennan - TURNING METS INTO WARRIORS

Kevin Pillar is revelatory.

He is tough as nails.

He doesn't just talk it.

He lives it.

It is infectious.

The Mets in past years seemed soft.  Steve Matz for instance is doing well so far this year, but he seemed all too ready to wilt under pressure as a Met.

The Mets' batters got hit by pitches a lot in recent years, with some guys needing to go to the IL, but their pitchers never really retaliated.

Chase Utley cripples Ruben Tejada - no real retaliation.

The Mets have often seemed soft with RISP.

Maybe the backbone was a little - I dunno - SOFT.

SOFT.

IN GENERAL, IF ASKED IF THE METS WERE TOUGH OR SOFT, MOST IF HONEST WOULD SAY SOFT.

Kevin Pillar is infecting these current Mets with the WARRIOR virus.

IT IS SPREADING.  We don't want an antidote.

The Mets of 1986 had the TOUGH AS NAILS WARRIOR virus.

Think Keith.  Think Darryl.  Think Carter.  Think Backman.

Think Knight.  Think Doc.  Think Nails.

All had it.

One side effect was it could result in a World Series title.

The Mets had that side effect in 1986.

Let's hope the Pillar contagion spreads and has the same side effect.

Pete has it.  Jake has it.  Taijuan has it.  Stroman has it.

Villar has it.  Diaz has it (most nights).  Others are getting it.

WATCH OUT!

INTEREST IN THESE METS IS BECOMING INFECTIOUS AGAIN.

If Pillar inspires them to a World Series title, let's consider one thing:

Changing the name of the Mets to NEW YORK WARRIORS.

Because often, you become what you call themselves.

"Metropolitans" sounds like urban tea totalers.  SOFT.

WARRIORS sounds like something else.

Something superior.

LFGW.

I thought the formatting was pretty cool.

Last night's game? Not so cool. Warriors, but with restraint please - don't awaken a sleeping Diamondback. Cool Hand Luke style is tough but chill.

Was that grounder foul?

I must say, I missed the grounder. Those late west coast games induce ZZZZZZs.
