The Syracuse Mets ended their week against the Worcester Red Sox on a disappointing note, dropping a 7-5 decision in the series finale.

 

Nick Dini went 2-4, with two runs scored, and a home run.

The Binghamton Rumble Ponies beat the Reading Fightin Phils 7-4 on Sunday night at FirstEnergy Stadium, taking five of six in the series, winning their fourth game in a row, and finishing their 12-game road trip at 8-4.

Ronny Mauricio hit his 24th home run and 77th RBI,

Postgame Notes: It’s the first time this season the Ponies have taken five of six in a series…Binghamton finishes 13-5 against Reading this year, winning all three series…Ritter scored two runs and has a five-game hitting streak.

The Cyclones completed a six-game series sweep of the Jersey Shore Blue Claws on Sunday afternoon with an 18-1 victory. For the Cyclones it was their 13th consecutive win over Jersey Shore dating to June 23rd.

William Lugo, Shervyen Newton and Matt O’Neill – the seven, eight and nine hitters in the Brooklyn lineup – combined for nine hits, seven runs scored and 11 RBI to pace the Brooklyn bats.

Keyshawn Askew made the start for Brooklyn but lasted just 2/3 of an inning as he struggled with control and walked three batters to load the bases. The southpaw threw 29 pitches with just 14 strikes, and left the game with the bases loaded and two out. Nathan Lavender (2-1) got the final out of the first inning and tossed 3.1 near-flawless frames allowing just one hit while striking out seven. Jeffrey Colon went the rest of the way, tossing 5.0 innings of one run ball, scattering three hits and striking out nine.

  Sunday’s series finale between the St. Lucie Mets and Palm Beach Cardinals at Clover Park was canceled due to wet grounds and more rain in the forecast. 

Since the teams do not play again in the regular season the game will not be made up. 

Fans with tickets to Sunday’s game can exchange those tickets for any games next week.
