Mets Promote Brett Baty to Triple-A Syracuse

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Mets, are proud to announce that third basemen Brett Baty has been promoted to Triple-A Syracuse.

Baty, the number two ranked prospect in the Mets system and 18th ranked prospect in all of baseball according to mlb.com, slashed .312/.406/.544 with 19 home runs, 59 RBI, and an OPS of .950 in 89 games with Binghamton. Baty was just named Friday by Minor League Baseball as the July Player of the Month for the Eastern League.

From July 12th through the 29th, Baty hit .490 over a 12-game hit streak, nine of which were multi-hit games, including six consecutive, and hit five home runs, drove in 19 runs, and carried an OPS of 1.431. He also had a team-high 16-game hitting streak earlier in the season.

On Friday July 29th against New Hampshire, Baty wowed fans at Mirabito Stadium as he drove in a career-high seven RBI, going 3-5 with two home runs, including a grand slam. Since June 3, Baty is hitting .351 with 16 home runs, 49 RBI, and an OPS of 1.072.

For the year, Baty is first in the Eastern League in hits, (106), OPS (.950) and runs scored (73). He is second in average (.312) and OBP (.406), while also sitting in the top five in slugging percentage (.544), extra base hits (41), and doubles (22).

Baty was drafted by the Mets with the 12th overall pick in the 2019 draft out of Lake Travis High School in Austin, Texas. He made his Double-A Debut with Binghamton on July 14, 2021.

Mets #12 prospect Jose Butto is also joining Baty in Syracuse. Butto is 6-5 with a 4.00 ERA in 20 games (18 starts) with Binghamton in 2022, with a 10.53 K/9 rate.
