Doyle was drafted in the 5th round of the 2008 draft by the Mets.

Doyle, the 2008 Big South Player of the Year, is hitting .366 with 22 doubles, two triples, 16 home runs and 72 RBI for the Chanticleers. He is a finalist for the Johnny Bench Award and was on the All-Conway Regional and All-Big South Tournament Teams. Doyle was 5-for-14 with six runs scored, two doubles and seven RBI in the regional and had two hits and two RBI in the 24-11 win over East Carolina June 1. Doyle is a two-time Big South Player of the Week and was ranked the third-best catcher in the country by Rivals.com. On the year, Doyle has committed just three passed balls, has thrown out 12 runners trying to steal and picked off seven more on base. In the Big South, he hit .342 with seven home runs.

2007: Was named to the All-Myrtle Beach Regional Team after hitting .400 with three runs, three runs-batted-in and one home run in four games... Was 3-for-5 against Clemson June 3 and drove in two runs against St. John’s the same day... Appeared in 44 games for Coastal with 37 starts... Had eight doubles, two home runs and 18 RBI on the year... Slugged .408 and had a .376 on-base percentage... Had the game-winning hit in Coastal’s 8-7 win over the College of Charleston May 8... Went 2-for-4 with three runs scored in a win over Winthrop May 25 in the Big South Tournament... Had 11 multi-hit games... Was 3-for-4 in a win over Nebraska May 5... Caught six runners trying to steal and picked off another one... Made only one error this season... Was selected by the Atlanta Braves in the 44th round of the 2007 MLB First-Year Player Draft... 2006: Redshirted... 2005: Appeared in 13 games for Coastal, making five starts behind the plate... In 2008, Doyle impressed at Kingsport (.308) and eventually was promoted to Brooklyn. His combined stats were: .303/.382/.389 in 175 at bats.
