World of Baseball - Mets WBC Players

http://myworldofbaseball.com/wordpress/?m=200903

Pedro Martinez RHP - He needs to prove to major league teams that he can still pitch. Opening against the Netherlands and pitching well could convince some major league team to sign him to a contract. Does the Domincan go with the one time proven ace or do they go with Jimenez to start the opener?

Jose Reyes/Hanley Ramirez SS - Who do they put at short and the other they queeze at second. Reyes is the better player defensively.

Moises Alou OF - The outfield doesn’t look particularly strong with Guerrero and Alfonso Soriano unavailable. Alou may finish out his career playing for the Dominicans in the WBC. No major league team has signed him yet.

Nelson Figueroa RHP - Last year he won three world series games for Taiwan and he led Aragua to the Dominican championships in the winter leagues in 2008. This year the championships have eluded him. Perhaps he will lead Puerto Rico to the WBC championship. That will certainly put another international stamp to his career.

Carlos Delgado 1B - He will be the big slugger in an offense that lacks big sluggers.
