Bisons Game Notes

TODAY’S GAME:

Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons face the Indianapolis Indians in the first game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd is coming off a 2-1 series win over Norfolk in a rain-shortened set. Today’s game begins an eight-game in nine-day homestand as the Durham Bulls will make their lone visit to Buffalo this year, June 11-14.

VS. THE INDIANS:

This is the first meeting between the Bisons and the Indians this season. Indianapolis has had the better of the match-up recently, winning three of the last four season series. The last time the Herd won the season series was 2004 with a 6-2 record. Still, Buffalo owns the 48-39 edge over Indy since returning to the I.L. in 1998 (.552 winning pct.).

HITTING 11:

OF Wily Mo Pena is currently on a team-best 11-game hit streak. The slugger went 1-4 on Thursday and is now hitting .318 (14-44) since his streak began on May 25. During the streak, Pena has also collected a double, two home runs and six RBI. The streak has raised his average 48 points (.248). ROSTER MOVE: The Mets selected the contract of RHP Fernando Nieve yesterday. Nieve was 3-0 with a 3.70ERA in four starts with the Bisons. The righty didn’t allow more than three runs in any of his starts and struck out 23 to only 18 hits allowed in 24.1 innings of work. METS ADD ARM: The Mets have claimed LHP Pat Misch off waivers and assigned him to the Bisons. The 27-year old southpaw was 3-0 with a 2.00ERA and one save in 12 games with Fresno (AAA) of the Pacific Coast League. He earned a big league promotion on May 13 and posted a 10.80ERA in three relief outings with the Giants.
