Bisons Add RHP Tobi Stoner to Roster, INF Javier Valentin Placed on Disabled List
The Buffalo Bisons, Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets, today announced that RHP Tobi Stoner has been promoted to the Herd from Binghamton (AA). Also, INF Javier Valentin has been placed on the team’s disabled list with a right shoulder strain.
Stoner, 24, was a non-roster invitee to Mets spring training this year. He was assigned to Binghamton where he has gone 2-2 with a 2.68ERA in seven starts to begin the season (47.0IP, 28H, 15R, 14ER, 13BB, 28K). He hasn’t allowed more than four runs in any start and is coming off a seven-inning complete game shutout over Trenton in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday, June 13 (3H, 0BB, 5K).
Stoner was selected by the Mets in the 16th round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft. He is 20-25 with a 3.56ERA in 72 games (all starts) in his professional career.
Valentin becomes the eighth Bisons player currently on the disabled list. RHP Dillon Gee, INF Andy Green, OF Bobby Kielty, INF Mark Kiger, RHP Carlos Muniz, C Mike Nickeas and INF Argenis Reyes are all currently on the team’s DL. Buffalo has already lost 223 man-games to injury this season.
