Lakeland 6, St. Lucie 5 (2nd Game)

Lakeland won, 6-5.

Angel Calero (1-4, 3.61) started game two. Calero has had little support this season. Sort of the Latin version of Tobi Stoner. And, he didn’t help himself tonight, giving up four earned runs in the first two innings. He lasted only 4.0 innings, with his ERA going up to 4.21.

2008: Started the season with Class A Savannah. ... Tossed 12 2/3 scoreless innings in his last two starts before a promotion to Class A Advanced St. Lucie in early June. ... Made four Florida State League starts before suffering a season-ending injury.

Lucy got one back in the 5th when Greg Veloz singled in Rafael Arroyo, who had walked earlier. Ike Davis homered, and they made it quite a game in the 7th when Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Davis led a three-run rally; however they fell short a run.

Calero took the loss, going to 1-5.
