Possible Met 1st Rounder - RHP - Brody Colvin

Colvin, Brody -

More HS, Lafayette, La. … 5-28 from MLBBonusBaby: - position in overall draft: 47. Milwaukee – Brody Colvin, RHP, St. Thomas More HS (LA) – Colvin’s got a first round arm, but isn’t as refined as one would hope a first rounder would be. As a result, he’s a supplemental first rounder to me. The Brewers should be interested in some high upside arms.

5-29 John Sickles: Brody Colvin, Louisiana HS: STRENGTHS: Projectable, already throws 90-94 and should get faster; good curveball; athletic. WEAKNESSES: High school pitcher risk; secondary pitches are raw; command is inconsistent. PROJECTION: Someone who likes raw arms will take him. . .would fit well with the Angels in the supplemental round with their extra picks.
Fr. Perfectgame.org: Brody Colvin is a 2009 RHP/OF with a 6'4'', 190 lb. frame from Lafayette, LA who attends St Thomas More. Brody has an easy arm action and his fastball sat in the low 90's at the Metrodome. He has a fast arm and his fastball had very good life with late zip. His breaking ball had a sharp break and was a good second pitch. His arm and body project large. He showed athleticism by running a 6.92 sixty and also showed good hitting ability. He has strength in his swing with good power. He is a good student and has verbally committed to the LSU Tigers, but will also create serious strong draft interest. Sky is the limit!

Fr. Redreporter.com: Colvin is more of a project. Scouts love his 94 m.p.h. heat, but his mechanics need work. At 6-4, 190, even more velocity is deemed possible. Colvin’s fastball already moves so much that he has difficulty controlling it. So dialing down his velocity actually might make him a better pitcher. His curve ranks among the best in the draft when he’s on. Athletic, Colvin is an LSU signee.
