5-24-12 - Daily Mets Minors Report

Date: 5-24-12

“Ike Davis's BABIP is actually negative. When he puts a ball in play, it's an out and one of his previous hits is rescinded.”

                                                            Jason Fry

Laid off at USA Today sports: Michael McCarthy, Tom Weir, Tom Pedulla

Mets:

Rich Coutinho‏ -

Mets at 24-20--12-12 On Road-12-8 at Home--15-6 in games decided by 2 runs or less--those are great building blocks

Jon Rauch‏ -

Unbelievable pitching today!! Bats came through too!

Michael Baron‏ -

R A Dickey has held the opposition to a .158 average with runners in scoring position and has yet to allow a hit with two outs and runners in scoring position this season. Opposition is 0-for-18 with 4 walks

AAA-Buffalo:

-off

AA-Binghamton:

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats and the Toronto Blue Jays today announced a two-year extension of their Player Development Contract (PDC)

St Lucie To Flushing‏ -

With the Blue Jays extending with New Hampshire and the Mets likely leaving Binghamton its either Ottawa or New Britain for them in '13

Zack Wheeler  went 4.2-IP before giving up a hit, which eventually resulted in the first run scored in the game… 8.0-IP, 2-H, 1-R, 6-K, 1-BB, 1.97, 4-2

Reese Havens has 11 walks, and only 9 hits, for the season.

Not that many hits for the B-Mets today, that is, until the 5-run ninth.

A+ - St. Lucie: -

Greg Peavey -

Anyone know when anchorman 2 comes out?

OF Cory Vaughn broke out tonight… 3-5, including his 9th home run… .237

My boy Frankie Pena continues to hit of late… also a homer… 2-4, .253 (high for season)

Everybody has a shit outing once in a while and tonight’s turn was Chase Hunchingson (5.0-IP, 5-R, 5-BB, 3.14) and our old friend Kyle Allen (2.0-IP, 2-ER, 2.40, BS)

Pedro Beato (0.00) continued his scoreless rehab and Adam Kolarek (2.11) got back in the zero column.

A – Savannah:

3B Aderlin Rodriguez is hitting .412/.488/.647 in his last 10 games.

The entire Mets world is on a Domingo Tapia watch and tonight’s stat line was: 6.0-IP, 7-H, 3-ER, 6-K, 2-BB, 4.29. The key stat here is the strikeouts per innings: 40-K, 11-BB, 42.0-IP. Could be better, but could be worse for the 20-year old.

12-hits tonight. The bats keep waking up. A-Rod went 2-4 and raised his seasonal BA to .242… Gilbert Gomez (.500) and Charlie Turber (.214) each had three hits.

Gomez stat like so far:  .500/.545/.600/1.145 (called this one two years ago…)
