Who's Hot Who's Not- From San Diego with Love Edition

Hey all, my apologies for the lack of "other posts these past two weeks. I've been chilling on the sweet sunny beaches of San Diego on my first true vacation of my life. However no matter how far away from New York I get, I still love and follow my Amazins. Since I'm on the road, it was only natural that the Mets were too. Heading into the home stretch of 20!! straight games the Mets seem to be getting a little tired as they only managed a .500 record these past few series (5-5).

Who's Riding the Big Wave

  • David Wright- .393 avg/.528 obp/.643 slg, 5 RBI, 7 2B
    • Teams have FINALLY figured out a way to beat David Wright.....just wait till he's sick. One thing that really ticked me off this week was that ESPN chose Matt Kemp over Wright as their National League MVP so far this season. Really?? Kemp is on the DL and Wright is batting over .400 (.399 now).
  • Mike Baxter- .391/.440/.609, 2 RBI, 3 2B, 3B
    • Mike from Whitestone has the hot hands this week making excellent use of a few hard earned starts. It couldn't have come at a better time too with Torres and Nieuwenheis struggling
  • R.A. Dickey- 1-0, 2.77 ERA, 0.846 WHIP, 19:1 K:BB ratio
    • National League hitters beware!!! When RA starts running numbers like the ones above, he's starting to lock in. Not Philip Humber-esque throw a no hitter and suck for 3 games locked in but more like Terminator-esque "destroy all who oppose him" locked-in. Oh have I mentioned that he's on pace to win 22 games.
Who's Caught in the Rip Current
  • Ike Davis- .100/.129/.167, 33% K rate
    • Have we seen enough to send him down to Triple A Buffalo yet? This is beginning to become painful to watch.
  • Mike Nickeas- .053/.100/.053, 53% K rate
    • PLEASE COME BACK JOSH THOLE!!!! In the mean time please let Rob Johnson or Vinny Rottino catch. Nickeas is just flat out awful
  • Andres Torres- .036/.206/.036, 29% K rate
    • This was not the time for Torres to start struggling. With Jason Bay around the corner from returning, Baxter playing well, and Nieuwenheis at least treading water, the question of whether or not his job is safe has resurfaced.
