Q and A's With Prospects - Smelling The Money

The season for interviewing draft prospects have come to an end. College kids are very busy with their quest to win the World Series, so we fully understand why some of the players contacted didn’t respond.

But, it’s the high school kids that puzzle me every year.

It’s amazing how easy it is to get a high school senior to talk to you… before their senior year starts. They are unable to have any agent yet, and the only reporter that wants anything to do with them is Joe Schmo from The Daily Bugle.

Then, along comes someone named Mack, who… no, I have no idea why I used that avatar… writes a national draft column every day. Sure I’ll talk to the old bastard.

We’ve had some great interviews this year… and Stephen’s with Courtney Hawkins should be online by Friday… but six other high school stars that agreed to be interviewed have all gone missing. No answer on the phone, text, to Stephen, to me, email, tweet… God, there is an awful lot of ways to communicate these days.

A couple of them… no, the picture is not a shot at the ‘2^nd Base’ photo drubbing… have even been interviewed before. One, three times!

No, it’s either one of two things.

1. Their new agent has told them to go quiet

2. They smell the money

We’ll pick this up again come June when we will reach out to the kids that just finished their junior year, but, the only people out there that want any questions asked are the writers here… from you.
