Choices Choices Choices - Pedro

Good Evening everyone!

It’s a few hours before I have to head into work for the night and I thought I’d give my thoughts on the what to do in order to find a replacement for Dillon Gee (get well soon bud!). Aside from Harvey, Mejia and maybe Schwinden, the Mets don’t really have to many candidates that could fill Gee’s rotation spot for the long haul and given the fact that 2 of the pitchers in the Met rotation have had serious shoulder surgery in the last 2 years I’m going to go ahead and say I’m a tad worried about the rotation holding up.  So maybe the Mets look outside the organization for a cheap reliable starting pitcher? It’s not a bad idea and it saves you from having to put too much pressure on Harvey (He’d probably be fine, but why risk it?).

Here are some pitchers who’d maybe be on the Mets radar as cheap and reliable Starting pitchers:

Kevin Millwood (3.69 Era in 90 innings...6.9 K/9 and 3.5 BB/9..$1M…yes please)
Bartolo Colon (3.80 ERA in 104 innings 5.4 K/9 and 1.5 BB/9….yes please)
Brandon McCarthy (2.54 Era in 78 Innings 6.0 K/9 and 2.2 BB/9…come on over)

And here are two guys who are under the Maybe category
Jeremy Guthrie -not even gonna post his stats because he just sort of sucks this year…but he’s held his own in the AL East most of his career

Paul Maholm- 4.57 ERA in 90 or so innings this year…meh, he’s a back of the rotation guy who is decent

Anyways, these are a few of the potential and REASONABLE outside of the organization options for the Mets should they go that route…unless they’d like to troll Met fans and just give us some full time starter Miguel Batista. Either way the trade deadline is looming or the Mets need help so it should be interesting come July 31st

Good night everyone and LETS GO METS!!!
