I'm going to build tomorrow morning's report around the signing

Well, in todays market, a good character possible 30+ homer cleanup hitter for $15mil/yr sounds about right. .........maybe mets fans can calm down a little now.
Here's to hoping David Wright now competes for 2014 mvp.

60mil for a 6th place hitter. Its not my money. We still need a cleanup hitter.

a 6 slot hitter?

You do know he hit 43 HR in 2012.

Its alright Mack.

I love this deal. Now if we can get C. Young or Ike to hit the way they have already shown they are capable of, this can be a MUCH improved team over the garbage product that I've wasted my summers watching over the past few years.

Very happy today.

Hallelujah! Relevance returns.

At $15 million AAV in this insane market, Sandy is brilliant.

Wright, Grandy & Young batting 3-4-5 should be formidable.

Very good signing, I'm glad that Alderson finally backed up his words about spending some money in free agency. I know we're not done yet, but this is a good start!

I'm feeling like that projected 3-4-5 would definitely mean the end of Ike Davis as a met, and instead insert Duda (and his OBP).....that 4-5 may come with a ton of potential strikeouts. Unless d'Arnoud bats .275+ in the 6th spot, and Ike goes low pressure back into the 7th spot.
This Mets team quietly got really interesting.
Imagine the 2015 pitching rotation, with that defensive outfield.

Herb, Luis, Ernest -

I'm going to write about this tomorrow morning but, needless to say, this is a better Met team and the only person it cost was the Wilpon family

I'm thinking without the pressure to be "The" guy delivering lefty power, it might spark Ike Davis and thus make Lucas Duda the odd man out. They still have to settle the 1B, 2B and SS questions while looking for a 5th starter (assuming Mejia is number 4). Carreño essentially replaces Hawkins in the pen.

It's puzzling to me why Wilmer Flores and Jenrry Mejia are never mentioned when they project roles for the 2014 team.

Finally!!

no reason to stop.
2 more additions needed for line-up

Trade focus:
OF: kemp/ethier/c. gomez/ or braun

SS: lowrie/c.owings/gregorius/ s. castro/ or hardy

the mets should not depend on Lagares and Young both being full time players next year

I like the signing.

Does this also mean Curtis bats 4th behind Wright and Young 5th so that Davis can bat 6th with a lot less pressure on him to produce the big hit. Davis improved a lot when he got up again.

I'm very happy with this signing and I feel even though it might not seem that way it could actually be slightly below market value cause this FA market is insane.

I really want to find a good SS via trade that can lead off. I want to give Ike one last chance without the pressure of hitting 4.

SS - via trade
2B - Murph
3B - Wright
LF - Granderson
RF - C. Young
1B - Ike
C - d'Arnaud
CF - Lagares

That's a decent lineup. I'd flip flop d'Arnaud and Ike depending on who's pitching and use Satin at 1B against elite lefties.

So glad to see my worry about the Sox swooping in and my conviction that the Wilpons' being broke were both wrong. This is a solid signing, very well done by Sandy in this market environment.

Am I the only one who things that Young should lead off? I always like speed/power combo at top of order. Then bat Murph, Wright, Granderson, Davis, Lagares,TDA, and Tejada.

Solid bench w/ Satin, Flores, EYJr, don Dekker, and maybe Tovar plus whoever the backup C turns out to be.

I still think there's more moves to come though. I'd be surprised if Murphy and possibly Davis are Mets this time next week.

Yes!!! Respect to Sandy and the FO. In my opinion this could be the best signing of the offseason. Look if Grandy wasnt get hurt last year he maybe had a another 40 HR season and then he would laugh about the 4 years the mets offered him
