2015 Draft - Round 10 (299th Overall) - RHP Witt Haggard - Delta State (MS) - SIGNED

On Sunday, the Meridian native made the trek to the Mets’ Spring Training facility in Port St. Lucie, Fla., for the last of several workouts Haggard conducted.

“I needed to go down there and prove myself,” said Haggard, who tops out at 97-miles per hour. “I had a good day. They had a couple of their (high-level) scouts there, and the ball was coming out real well.

“I had a really good feeling about the (Mets and Marlins), but as the day unfolded I was kind of getting nervous and antsy.”

Haggard said he has agreed to an undisclosed signing bonus with the Mets. The slotted financial value for his pick selection is $150,000.

I like that 97 MPH stuff with Haggard, look forward to seeing how that translates into success.
