CLEARWATER, Fla. (July 15, 2019) – The Florida State League announced on Monday that St. Lucie Mets outfielder Hansel Moreno was selected as the League’s Player of the Week.
For the week of July 8-14, Moreno’s slash line was .429/.500/.905. In seven games he went 9 for 21 with three triples, one home run, one double, three walks, five RBI, and five runs scored.
On Wednesday at Jupiter, Moreno hit his first career FSL home run. The three-run shot broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning and propelled the Mets to a 5-0 win over the Hammerheads.
Moreno collected three multi-hit games during the week and hit safely in six of seven contests.
Moreno, 22, was signed by New York as an international free agent in 2014. He began this season with St. Lucie but was sent down to Low-A Columbia in mid-May after hitting .124. A week-and-a-half after returning to St. Lucie he won FSL Player of the Week.
Moreno is the first Met to receive a weekly FSL award this season.

Good for Hansel Moreno. Playing almost as well as Andres Gimenez.
