Tom Brennan - SPOTLIGHT ON METS MINORS PITCHER JOANDER SUAREZ

I WANNA BE A BIG LEAGUE PITCHER SOMEDAY!

Like I have said often of late, I like guys who produce.

Some hyped guys don't play well, while others are hurt.

Meanwhile, some un-hyped guys (e.g., Joander Suarez) play well.

Yes, so far, Joander Suarez is producing nicely in 2019.

Pitching for the 2019 GCL Mets, Suarez interestingly said in a Spanish article in 2018 that he liked to watch tapes of pitchers, including Justin Verlander

To which I say, good for you, Joander.

Watch the best, and study and learn.

The right thing to do if you wanna be a big league pitcher someday.

The 19 year old, 6'3", 180 righty had a bit of an off game in his first outing in 2019.

But in his last 4 outings, spanning 16 innings, he has allowed just two earned runs on 9 hits and 7 walks, with 18 Ks.  Nifty.

I can't tell you much else about him at the moment...

but his numbers so far speak for themselves.

I'll bet you even Justin Verlander would agree.

Today, on July 26, Joander Suarez in his next start threw 5 innings, no runs, 2 hits, fanning TEN for the GCL Mets.

Very impressive.

Even better on Suarez: 5 innings, 10 Ks, just 42 pitches, 38 for strikes!!! Holy cow!
