The Brooklyn Cyclones (22-29) battle the Greenville Drive (29-23) — the High-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox — in an Education Day affair on Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. from Maimonides Park on Coney Island. 

RHP Joander Suárez (1-4, 7.50) is scheduled to take the hill for Brooklyn against Greenville’s RHP Isaac Coffey (4-2, 2.54).

RAMÍ ROCKETS: CF Alex Ramírez homered for the second-straight game on Tuesday night vs. Greenville...The 20-year-old pounded a game-tying 3-run home run to left in the 7th inning...Ramírez also tallied a solo blast in the 6th inning of Sunday’s 9-3 win at Jersey Shore...It marked the 2nd time this season a Cyclone player has homered in consecutive games...RF Stanley Consuegra first accomplished the feat on April 14 and 15 at Winston-Salem...Ramírez is now tied for the team lead in home runs (5) with Consuegra and INF Mateo Gil...Since joining Brooklyn on July 4 of last year, the Mets’ No. 2 prospect per MLB Pipeline leads the South Atlantic League in RBI (63), hits (108), doubles (26), extra-base hits (37), total bases (166)...Ramírez is 3rd in franchise history in RBI (63) trailing only teammate IF/OF Jaylen Palmer (65), and INF José Peroza (69).

NOT SO STUART LITTLE: At 6-foot-9, RHP Tyler Stuart has been as consistent and imposing as any starting pitcher in the South Atlantic League in 2023...The 23-year-old permitted just 2 earned runs over 25.1 frames (0.71 ERA) in 5 starts during May...Stuart leads the SAL — and all qualified pitchers in Minor League Baseball — in ERA (1.43)...Stuart is also 9th in the circuit in WHIP (1.20) and 10th in innings pitched (44.0)...The Kankakee, Ill. native is also 2nd in LOB% (87.2%), 2nd in FIP (2.87), 3rd in xFIP (3.46), 4th in strikeout rate (29.1%), and 6th in strikeouts per 9 innings (10.64). 

 

BLADE CUTS ‘EM DOWN: RHP Blade Tidwell is in the midst of his best stretch of baseball in 2023...The 21-year-old did not factor into the decision on Sunday but hurled 2.2 innings without allowing an earned run...Over his last 4 starts dating back to May 17 at Hudson Valley, Tidwell is 2-0 with a 1.10 ERA (2 ER in 16.1 IP) with just 6 hits allowed...The Loretto, Tenn. native has walked 16 and struck out 23...Tidwell’s strikeout rate is 32.4% during the stretch and opponents hold a meager .106 batting average (6-55) against him. 

 

1-2, E-STEP: After a bumpy month of April, INF Chase Estep picked up the pace at the plate in the season’s second month...In his last 25 games dating back to May 5, the 23-year-old slashes .314/.379/.500 with a .879 OPS...Estep has accumulated 15 runs scored, 6 doubles, 2 triples, 2 home runs, and 14 RBI in 95 plate appearances...The Corbin, Ky. native has also registered a 138 wRC+...In his first 12 outings, he was just 2-for-43 (.047) at the dish with a wRC+ of -21...Estep has also raised his batting average by 178 points in that time (.047 to .225). 

GOING, GOING, GIL: INF Mateo Gil has reached base safely in 15 of his last 16 games dating back to May 18 at Hudson Valley...The 22-year-old is slashing .264/.361/.566 and he has registered an impressive .927 OPS, 145 wRC+, and .410 wOBA in that time...Gil is 14-for-53 at the plate (.264) with 10 runs scored, 4 doubles, 4 home runs, and 13 RBI adding 8 walks...Since that date, Gil is tied for 2nd in the league in home runs (4), tied for 3rd in extra-base hits (8), tied for 3rd in RBI (13), 5th in slugging (.592), and tied for 8th in OPS (.927).
