PIITB By JD- Weekly Recap

 PIITB By JD- Weekly Recap

This team is not exciting me much in the last few weeks, so I am going to keep the recaps short. The Mets are looking more and more like just a 500-ball club. They keep showing signs of a breakout and look awful the next day.

Phillies (3-0)

This series was obviously a big win for the Mets. Sweeping a division rival is always a good thing. The pitching was great, but the offense was still lacking to an extent. Overall, good series but the good times did not last long…

Blue Jays (0-3)

This was an awful series top to bottom. The offense was inept (especially Lindor). Aside from Senga, who was pitching on regular rest for the first time, the pitching was OK overall. The Mets can not hit consistently simple as that.

Some additional notes:
The bullpen is bad, very bad. It has too many mop-up guys and the “trusted arms” have not been performing lately outside of Robertson.

The offense goes as Pete and Lindor go. We know this but it is showing big time. Pete gets a pass from everyone (including me) because he has been great this season but is cold now. Lindor has been bad all season. He has not found his stroke yet. I do believe he will improve, but it has been hard to watch. He looks lost, especially from the left side ( I know he went yard last night). The power is not the issue for Lindor. His consistency is gone.

This is a 500 team until they prove otherwise.

A 500 team? Maybe not even that.

And Buck continues to play Vogelbach over Vientos and bat Lindor top of the lineup. Reminds me why I'm not a fan of Buck.

I’m still a Buck fan but the Vogelbach situation is strange. I guess there is little faith in Vientos . However Vogelbach is like Davis last year,he isn’t getting the job done. Last year they replaced Davis and improved the position, why they won’t do that this year is the question. Escobar,Canha and Vientos are in house replacements. Trade Vientos if you don’t believe in him for a veteran bat. Peterson could bring bat DH..Do something.
