The VSL Mets beat the Tigers Saturday, 5-3.

20-year old SP Jose Hernandez, went eight innings, and struck out nine. Hernandez’s ERA was lowered to 2.08. Hernandez has pitched in the past for both the VSL and DSL Mets, posting a 0-3, 6.75 record last year as a reliever. So far this season, he has pitched 26.0 innings, over five starts, and has 29 strikeouts while giving up only nine walks. Opponents have batted only .189 against him.

1B Nestor Moreno had his first home run of the young season. Moreno went 2-4 and raised his batting average to .329. He’s a 19-year old newbie that turns 20 later this month.
