Game #38 • Thursday, May 17, 2012
NYSEG Stadium • Binghamton, NY • 6:35 PM

LAST GAME: Jefry Marte ripped a single to right with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning to plate the game’s only run in Binghamton’s 1-0 walk-off win over the Trenton Thunder last night at NYSEG Stadium. It was Binghamton’s second walk-off victory of the year. Matt den Dekker started the inning by doubling off reliever Preston Claiborne. A bunt single by Josh Rodriguez and a walk set the table for Marte. Brad Holt tossed two scoreless innings of relief to collect his first win of the season. B-Mets starter Collin McHugh and Trenton starter Brett Marshall each fired seven shutout innings.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Zack Wheeler (2-2, 2.05) makes his seventh start of the season and second since returning from the disabled list with a right middle fingernail avulsion. The righty earned a win in his last start against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on May 10. He allowed two earned runs on six hits and struck out seven over five innings. The Georgia native has not allowed more than two runs in any of his first six starts. He was traded to the Mets from the Giants in exchange for Carlos Beltran prior to the trade deadline last year.

RHP Cory Arbiso (1-0, 2.67) takes the mound for his sixth start of the season. He began the year in the bullpen before joining the rotation in the middle of April. The righty earned his first win of the season in his previous start against the Portland Sea Dogs on May 12. The California native allowed one run on four hits over a season-high seven innings. He walked two and struck out two. Arbiso was selected by the Yankees in the 22nd round of the 2008 draft out of Cal State Fullerton. Arbiso is in his third full season with the Trenton Thunder.

Mack,

Wheeler threw super strong again tonight. He looks like a crusher for us. Great trade!
Pumped to one day watch him at Citi Field.

yeah, he's had one quality start after another

there is no place for him to go so look for him to stay put in B-Town for the season
