Draft Notes – MLBDC 2013 Mock, UF vs. UK, Josh Elander, Lucas Giolito, My Mock

Here’s the first 2013 Mock… MLB Draft Countdown

1) Minnesota Twins (6-18)- Karsten Whitson, RHP, Florida

2) Kansas City Royals (7-16)- Ryan Stanek, RHP, Arkansas

3) San Diego Padres (9-17)- William Abreu, OF, Mater Academy (FL)

4) Chicago Cubs (9-16)- Colin Moran, 3B, North Carolina

5) Los Angeles Angels (10-15)- Kris Bryant, 3B, San Diego

Game One: 5-3 Florida… Preston Tucker homered, Hudson Randall pitched well, and Steven Rodriguez blanked Kentucky for 2.1 innings… both Tucker and Mike Zunino have 12 homers apiece…

TCU junior catcher Josh Elander was named first-team Capital One Academic All-District VII. The honor is the first for the Elander. He will advance to the All-American ballot.  Elander boasts a 3.42 GPA as a communications major. He ranks second on the team with a .317 batting average and 29 RBIs. Elander leads the squad with six home runs, 11 stolen bases and 28 walks. The juniors is the only Horned Frog to have played in and started all 42 games this season - link

FIU officially accepts its invitation to Conference USA

Bobby Wahl – 90-94, 79-81 CH

Kevin Gausman – 90-94, 80-84 SL

SP Lucas Giolito threw on Thursday, his pitch attempt since March 6th. It was on flat ground and only around 30 feet in distance. It’s just the beginning of a rehab program that will take him up to the draft in June. He never had to have surgery but a strain in his UCL is nothing to shrug off either. No one talks draft in this family. Mention the draft and they tell you about UCLA. My guess is he will be picked somewhere in the 6-10 pick and skipping college isn’t etched in stone. Draft day is also his mother’s birthday… gonna be some champagne flowing that day!
