Herd falls 3-2 in extra innings

The 10th inning magic led Charlotte to a 3-2 win over Buffalo Friday, giving the Knights the early lead in the four-game series in Charlotte. The Bisons have now lost two in a row after winning three straight in Gwinnett.
The Knights' winning run was set up quickly. Josh Edgin replaced Dylan Owen heading into the 10th, and Golson took advantage with a leadoff double. A sacrifice bunt sent Golson to 3rd, giving Gimenez the opportunity to display his late heroics.

The Bisons had a chance of their own in the top of the 10th, but could not capitalize. Lucas May oened the extra frame with a double, but Knights pitcher Gregory Infante was able to retire the next three Bisons batters in order.

The Bisons used some 9th-inning magic of their own to extend the game to extra innings. Down 2-1 heading into the top of the 9th, Valentino Pascucci opened the frame with a double into right field. Michael Fisher promptly entered the game as a pinch runner for Pascucci.

Josh Satin was next at bat, and he made no mistake. Satin ripped a single into center field, scoring Fisher and tying the game.

The Knights opened the scoring early, with a 1st-inning Dan Johnson single that scored Golson. Golson had opened the bottom of the 1st with a double.

It took the Bisons seven innings to produce any runs of their own. Trailing 1-0 through six, Matt Tuiasosopo produced a double that scored Pascucci. The Knights responded with a run of their own in the 8th, setting the stage for the Bisons' 9th-inning heroics.

Garrett Olson started for the Bisons and produced a quality start, allowing only four hits in 6.2 innings of work. Olson had ten strikeouts, compared to only one walk. Olson received a no-decision on the night, with reliever Josh Edgin getting the loss.

The Bisons get right back to work against the Knights Saturday, looking to end the two-game skid. First pitch is set for 7:15 p.m.
