2013 Draft-Notes – Drew Dosch, JaCoby Jones, Stephen Gonsalves, Justin Williams

Left-handed batter Drew Dosch (Youngstown State) of the Falmouth Commodores made some key hits that earned him a current batting average of .368 and Coca Cola’s Player of the Week. In last Wednesday’s game against Cotuit, Dosch hit a two-out double in the seventh inning that helped earn the Commodores a 9-2 victory over the Kettleers. Following his performance Wednesday, Dosch helped fuel another Falmouth victory after belting another double last Thursday against Wareham. Dosch shined in Saturday’s game against the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox when he hit an RBI double in the first inning and later drove a solo homer in the third inning. - http://ht.ly/1l671Q

Baseball America 2012 All-Americans – 1st team: -

OF - Clint Frazier, Loganville (Loganville, Ga.), Junior  All-Region Hitter of the Year... Team Georgia.  Stats - .424 batting average, 55 runs, 7 doubles, 24 home runs, 58 RBI.

JaCoby Jones, INF/OF, Harwich (LSU) - Jones hit the ball very hard in batting practice and sent a few into the trees at Y-D. The athleticism is apparent in his actions... he played CF (between Phil Ervin and Austin Wilson) on Wednesday and made two impressive plays. The first was a great read and jump coming in on a ball he barely got to. The second required him to range far into LF. Definitely some inconsistency here (for example, his swing got realy handsy at times in bp) and I’m not exactly sure where he profiles best - need a few more looks - but its easy to see the appeal. Plenty of bat speed and he flashed all five tools. http://www.bullpenbanter.com/rtmenu/821-cape-cod-league-observations-week-3

When a new 18U pitcher entered in the second inning, some didn't recognize him at first. With a throwback type delivery where his hands separate early, reach back and regroup at his balance point, lefthander Stephen Gonsalves (Cathedral Catholic High, San Diego) raised some eyebrows. Working with Team USA pitching coach Jim Lawler, Gonsalves altered his windup to get more momentum toward the plate. It's very new to him as he only tried it on flat ground the day before the game, but Gonsalves breezed through his one inning of work, striking out two. http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/draft/2012/07/several-players-highlight-final-game-of-prospect-classic/

Justin Williams, a LSU baseball commit, has displayed his talents in recent months by playing in several summer showcases with his travel club in Baton Rouge-based Marucci Elite. He will play in several national tournaments, including the 2012 Perfect Game All-American Classic at PETCO Park in San Diego on Aug. 12. He is also preparing to participate in the Under Armour All-America Game at legendary Wrigley Field in Chicago at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 18. The prestigious game will feature 36 of the best prep baseball players in the nation, and it will be televised nationally by MLB Network.
