RP Justin Hampson was DFA’d and P Jeremy Hefner was sent to Buffalo.

Braves Release D.J. Carrasco

Adam Rubin - had a scout tell me pregame again today that Scott Hairston would be the most in-demand Met if they were sellers. But the Mets aren't sellers.

Chris Schwinden's DFA'd and his Yankee career comes to a close.

Here’s a twitter that sums up the kind of month Schwinny is having:

MLB Transactionist‏@MLBTransactions - NEW YORK YANKEES: Claimed OF Darnell McDonald off waivers from Boston. Designated RHP Steve Schwinden for assignment.

The Mets entered the day with an MLB-worst 4.91 bullpen ERA.

AAA – Buffalo:

International League All-Star RHP Matt Harvey  takes the mound tonight for his IL-leading 18th start. The righty is coming off maybe his best start of the season, allowing just two hits in seven shutout frames on Friday against Louisville. Harvey struck out nine in that game. With 96 strikeouts, he is just two behind Columbus’ Corey Kluber for the league lead.

Tonight –

Matt Harvey allowed 2R on 4 hits (HR) in 6 innings. 6K, 2BB, 94 pitches/56 strikes. League-best 102 strikeouts

Re: offense… there was none…

AA-Binghamton:

RHP Greg Peavey (3-5, 5.57) makes his 15th start of the season and first against Richmond. The righty has suffered the loss in each of his last three starts. He was tagged for five runs on eight hits over six innings in a defeat in his most recent start against the Bowie Baysox on June 29. The Washington native is on a four-game losing streak and has gone winless in his last six starts. His last victory came against the Portland Sea Dogs on May 20.

RHP Craig Westcott (6-6, 3.91) takes the mound for his 17th start of the year. The righty has lost his last two starts and is winless in his last four games. The Reading Phillies scored four runs on seven hits against him over 6.2 innings on June 29. Westcott struck out a season-high seven and did not issue a walk in the losing effort. His last win came against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on June 5. Selected in the 30th round of the 2009 draft out of Belhaven College, Westcott is in his fourth year with the San Francisco Giants organization and second go-around with Richmond. He made 13 starts with the Flying Squirrels in 2010, going 3-3 with a 5.13 ERA.

Tonight…

Peavey – 6-ER, 4.2-IP… what are the Mets trying to prove here?

LF Eric Campbell just keeps on hitting… 2-4, 6th HR

Day off for Wilmer Flores (.353) who pinch hit late in the game.

Two positions and three players (Flores, Reese Havens, Jenry Marte). I guess one DH’s each day…

A+ - St. Lucie: -

Tonight

Zach Lutz began his rehab playing at 3B. 0-1, plus two walks…

RP Jeffrey Walters just kept rolling along. Another 1.2 innings of scoreless ball (0.00) after 17 outings with Savannah (0.95). 34-Ks in 34-IP and only 4-BB.

Not much here tonight.

A – Savannah:

Tonight

We may be watching the beginning of another Aderlin Rodriguez (3B - .272) home run jag. Hit his 14th in the second…

Two more errors, both by 2B Brandon Brown ( .222) (9th, 10th). Savannah now has 86 errors, resulting in 51 unearned runs in (91 games). And you wonder why we don’t follow stats below the A+ level.

A-Low – Brooklyn:

Tonight

CF Brandon Nimmo (.182) hit his 2nd professional home run… God, the umpires hate this kid…

LF Stefan Sabol (.360) hit his first…

Early on, 1B Jayce Boyd (.462) looks like a keeper…

There seems to be an awful lot of sub-par pitching on this team…

DSL Mets:

Esta noche

SP Yoryi Nuez – 7.0-IP, 0-R, 2-H…
