2012 Draft - 17th Round (50th Overall Pick) - LHP Sixto Torres - Faith Baptist Christian (FL) - REVISED 1:44 PM

6-4, 220  -  L/L

BA #174 - Listed at 6-foot-4, 220 pounds, Torres is an imposing presence on the mound. The big lefty had a star turn at Area Code Games last year, throwing three scoreless, hitless innings. After an inconsistent start to this spring, he finished well and again showed an intriguing all-around package. Torres can touch 94 mph with his fastball, but more typically sits around 90 mph with some sink. His changeup and breaking ball both can be average offerings. His command remains inconsistent, though he generally works around the zone. Big, strong, quick-armed lefthanders don’t come along often and, though Torres has some rough edges to polish, a team will likely take a chance on him early enough in the draft to keep him from getting to Alabama State, where he is committed.
