BREAKING NEWS - C - Derek Norris

The Nationals have placed catcher Derek Norris on waivers, reports FanRag’s Jon Heyman. If no one claims Norris, the likelihood is the Nationals will release him, per Heyman. While Norris is slated to make $4.2MM this year, the Nationals will only be responsible for 30 days’ termination pay (~$700K) if they cut him.  -  https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/

Mack - One must consider if Norris would be a better third alternative... and the starting catcher in Las Vegas... than Kevin Plawecki.

Norris may not have hit well the past three years (.270, .250, .186), but he does have major league power (10/55, 14/62, 14/42).

You would have to pick up his $4.2mil contract though.

I'd stay with youth, and hope Plawecki finally is ready

I'm not interested in him anyway, but if the Nats released him, he should be a FA. If so, he does not have a contract. Anyone who signs him can negotiate a deal for any amount he agrees to.

I agree with Tom. Rivera is our MLS backup, KP starts in Vegas, and Camilla or any journeyman can back him up.
