Teddy Cahill‏ - @tedcahill  - Friday: Florida catcher Mike Rivera was hit by a pitch in the right hand. He is coming out of the game.

                                                   Saturday: Mike Rivera not in the lineup for Florida, but x-rays were negative after he got hit in the hand last night.

Sox Prospects - Journeyman catcher with some pop in his bat but lacks the necessary plate discipline to be a consistent hitter. Not a great defensive catcher.  Mediocre game-calling skills.

                       GW - At Community College of Baltimore County Catonsville: Threw 39.0 innings with 36 strikeouts and 5.50 ERA ... threw seven innings of one-run ball with one walk and one strikeout in Region XX DII 2nd Round Playoff Game ... All-Academic JUCO selection as a freshman and sophomore.

                                  



Fairfield 6, Stetson 0 – Fairfield junior pitcher Gavin Wallace: 9.0-IP, CG, 7-H, 0-R, 9-K, 2-BB, Win (3-1)

                        Fairfield - 2016: MAAC All-Academic Team…MAAC Pitcher of the Week (5/24)…Tied the single season program record with eight wins during his statement season in becoming the first Stag in 16 years to reach the eight win plateau…His season caught fire after his first MAAC start when he helped the Stags avoid a sweep and went eight innings allowing one run with six strikeouts against Rider (4/2)…Built on that start by throwing a complete game in the seven inning win against Iona (4/10)…It was the first of a conference best five complete games, a number that was tied for eighth in the country…Also finished fifth in the MAAC with 87.2 innings…Threw four-straight complete games and pitched to a 6-2 MAAC record with a 3.02 ERA in conference games…His confidence grew as he got the ball for the first game of the MAAC tournament and earned his eighth win of the year with 7.2 innings of two-run ball.
 
                                  



Ball State 6, Dayton 0 – Ball State senior RHP BJ Butler: 9.0-IP, CG, 4-H, 0-R, 9-K, 2-BB, Win (2-2)

                        Ball State - 2016 (Jr.): Led the team in pitching appearances (25), innings pitched (63.2) and strikeouts (54) … went 6-1 with a 1.84 ERA to earn All-MAC accolades … he ranked second in the MAC in saves (9), sixth in appearances (25) and eighth in wins (6) … he went 13 consecutive appearances from March 29 to May 8 without allowing a run … against league opponents in 2016, Butler posted a 5-0 record with a 1.07 ERA and three saves … his lone loss came in the MAC Tournament when he started the opener against Western Michigan, went 8.0 innings, allowed two earned runs and struck out a season-high eight batters.

                       Ramblin Wreck - 2016 (Sophomore): Started 61 games for the Yellow Jackets, making 41 starts in the outfield and 20 as the designated hitter ... Finished fourth on the team with a .319 average with 16 doubles, two triples, 11 home runs and 54 RBIs ... Tied with Matt Gonzalez for the team lead in homers and RBIs ... One of three Tech players named first-team All-ACC ... Only three of his 11 home runs were hit away from Russ Chandler Stadium ... Amassed 21 multi-hit games, tied for fourth on the team ... 12 multi-RBI games which was tied for second on the team ... Went 3-for-5 with a home run and three RBIs in the win over Western Michigan on Feb. 20 ... Recorded a 22-game hitting streak, tied for the eighth-longest hitting streak in school history ... Also led the team with a 24-game reached base safely streak ... Streak started on Feb. 27 vs. UMBC, going 1-for-4 with an RBI double ...
