BREAKING NEWS - OF - Michael Conforto
Mack's Mets writer David Rubin advises that he has been told by 'sources' that outfielder Michael Conforto will begin the 2017 season in Las Vegas, The plan is for him to remain there for 55 days which will make him eligible for one more year of arbitration.
Rubin said that he also was told that the overall plan is to convert Conforto to center this season in Vegas.

So money troubles are over and putting the best team on the field is foremost? Want to buy a slightly used bridge in lower Manhattan?
Meet the Mets, Michael, step right up and greet the Mets. At least if the plan holds true, you'll miss mid summer Vegas heat.
CF/AB's makes more sense to me than sitting on the bench. Now if an OF gets hurt and they still insist on that 55 day thing... that's another matter.
Hobie -
I think the 55 day plan is Plan B
Conforto is the Mets genuine 4th outfielder waiting for an opening in the starting lineup
The off-season questions in the OF made Conforto the temporary odd-man out. Bruce's not being able to be traded for anything worthwhile and the uncertainty of whether or not (initially) Cespedes would be coming back kept Conforto in a state of limbo. The fact that Terry didn't give him at-bats vs lefties last season didn't help, and the fact that Wally apparently went against company requests to play Conforto in CF all combine to make this decision a smarter one than keeping him rotting on the bench. I am hoping that they will make the most of his stay in Vegas, if it 100% happens, and put him in CF to at least see if that's a possibility for his future role. The Cubs did a similar thing with Kris Bryant, but to make it up to him, on the heels of winning the World series, they paid him over $1,000,000 this season- smart move. We can only hope that Conforto does likewise!!!!!
Not the worse idea.. and if that saves us a year in arbitration ...BONUS... since it will always be the case that the Mets will prioritize Money over winning anyway...
Facts are Grandy and Bruce will play early in the season anyway so he was heading to Vegas ...
If this is truly common knowledge.....
The MLBPA is going to have a field day with this.....
Chris -
This was not 'common knowledge'.
It was something told exclusively to David by one of his sources.
