Tom Brennan - METS NEAR TERM OUTFIELD OPTIONS

Tom Brennan - METS NEAR TERM OUTFIELD OPTIONS

One would imagine that Yoenis Cespedes should return within 7-10 days, and the outfield shortage right now would be resolved.

Are there any options down on the farm to call up if the Mets do decide to call up an outfielder in the near future?

I see two - one old, one new.

OLD

Matt Den Dekker

The former Met, and currently the system's Mets' best outfield defender after Juan Lagares' latest injury, Matt is hitting .298 in Vegas with 7 doubles, 2 triples, and 8 homers.  The now 30 year old is loving May, sporting a .347 average.

NEW

Kevin Kaczmarski, pictured at the top, a 26 year old righty outfielder, started out this season hurt, but in his return from injury, he is 12 for 35 with 8 walks and a mere 4 Ks between his A ball rehab and his 4 subsequent AAA games.  Kevin is .296/.380/.417 in his career, with 50 of 74 steals.  I see him as sort of an Eric Campbell type.

Besides those two:

Another possibility is Bryan Brentz, who is .271/.336/.542 in 29 games, but with a troubling 39 Ks.

Lastly, Zach Borenstein has not done as well as I'd expected, at .233 with an equally troubling 69 Ks in 50 games.

Just something to chew on, folks.
