McCade Brown
Mack's spin -
Brown should have had a better 2021 season, but there still is a lot of talent here.
He throws a 4-pitch that includes a 97-fastball; however, it is his 12-6 curve that stands out.
I think he will continue to improve his command and become very successful at the next level.

McCade Brown’s stuff can rival any in the class. Featuring true swing and miss abilities with his 3 pitches and one of the best Curveballs in the class that is virtually unhittable when its on. (And it’s on more times than not). Has the looks of a Double-plus pitch with tight spin that’s tough lay off with the late action it brings to the table. A 4 pitch mix and a starter body with this type of stuff is tough to ignore. Coming into 2021 there were some control/command issues, but Brown has taken a big step forward in that category and looks like a clear1st round pick.

McCade Brown decided to take his unused bullets to the Kernels Collegiate League this past summer where he hoped to sharpen his arsenal. He dominated the opposition to the tune of a 0.93 ERA, allowing just five hits, walking 11 and striking out an astonishing 50 batters in just 22.1 innings. Brown recorded 67 outs this summer. 75 percent of them were strikeouts. And yeah, sure, walking eleven batters in 22+ innings still isn’t great, but it’s marked progress.
Not only were the results encouraging, the stuff was peaking too. Brown was up to 97, and his good slider was now being complimented with a very good 12-6 curveball. The latter comfortably a plus offering. Brown already had a changeup in his back pocket too.

McCade Brown was always thought to have a good arm, but command and secondary polish held him off some watchlists. That changed during the summer of 2020. Over 22.1 innings in the Kernals Collegiate League, Brown seared through the competition to the tune of a 0.93 ERA, allowing five hits, striking out 50(!) hitters. He did allow 11 free passes along the way. The fastball was suddenly up to 97 and his curve had developed into a true plus offering.
That trend continued in Indiana’s season opener as Brown was again into the mid-90s, showcasing the power curveball. He worked in one changeup as well, though it was spiked into the dirt.
At 6-foot-6, 225-pounds, Brown is built like a big leaguer. He’s got a shorter arm action and a sound move to the plate he repeats well. Right now it’s primarily a two-pitch mix, but if the changeup comes on in conference play, Brown could find himself in first round conversations.

Brown is an up-arrow arm after a summer in the Kernals Collegiate League where he showed loud stuff, but he still has plenty to prove with Indiana. Through two years with the Hoosiers, Brown has thrown just 6.2 innings with 11 strikeouts and 13 walks. As his numbers suggest, throwing strikes has been Brown’s most significant hurdle, but if he can figure out how to get the ball in the zone more frequently, he has significant upside. Standing 6-foot-6, 200 pounds, Brown is an imposing presence on the mound with room for more physical projection. He throws a fastball in the 89-95 mph range and has a breaking ball in the 78-82 mph range that looks like an above-average offering. Brown will also be one of the younger players in the college class, still 20 years old on draft day, but with virtually no collegiate track record there’s a wide range of outcomes for Brown until he proves it next spring.

McCade Brown looks very interesting for the 2nd or 3rd round. Hi velocity arm and sharp curve? Why not.
I really like this guy.
Could be around when we pick in the 2nd.
His fastball-12/6 curve combo alone project him to be at least a top reliever
Mack since you are at 42 picks can you come up with your top 10 guys the Mets can target for round 2?
