Future Mets Prospect - RF Stanley Consuegra
(PC - Ed Delaney)
It’s no big secret that the Mets need young outfielders. There is a chance that Brooklyn’s Stanley Consuegra is developing into one.
The 6-2, 205 22-year old was an International sign ($500K bonus) back in 2017, out of the Dominican Republic. His growth was held back from a season ending injury in 2019 and COVID in 2020.
Consuegra has always been projected to develop pop and that’s starting to be seen this season. He really has yet to hit for average, though this year’s .262 through is respectable, and his highest BA in his stateside career. Also, his career 219 strikeouts in 854 at-bats is troublesome.
However… so far this season… he’s tied for 4th in the league with four home runs.
He started as a shortstop but moved to the grass early in his career. Like most shortstops, he has a very powerful arm. He also has excellent speed and covers a lot of ground in right.
Me?
I have been very disappointed since this guy impressed in the DSL league. That being said, if he can develop into s 25+ home run power bat that plays excellent outfield defense, I cam live with his strikeouts.
To me, a potential utility outfielder or DH.

Stanley has a chance to make a big move this year. Right now, he feels like former Mets minor leaguer Wuilmer Becerra, but hopefully he will far out-do Becerra.
25 homers? How many guys do that? He’d be a top 50 prospect
