Future Prospect - B-Mets Jose Peroza

Future Prospect - B-Mets Jose Peroza

One future prospect that is really making some noise recently is Binghamton 22-year old third baseman (and second base) Jose Peroza.

Peroza was signed as a 16-year in 2016 as an International rookie out of Venezuela. This is the sixth season he has played in the Mets chain and easily his best

He started slowly this year in St. Lucie, but, through Tuesday night, he has hit .308/.390/.635/1.024for the B-Mets, including blasting three home runs on May 9th.

Peroza has always showed home run power and was ranked in the top five producers of bombs in the combined 2019-2021 seasons. Defintely a bat-first prospect that needs to work on his defense at third. Projected to play there due to his strong arm.

Me? The Mets starting infield looks pretty set for the remainder of this decade. That leaves him as a candidate for a utility position only, which usually goes to glove-first candidates.

I don’t know….

Perhaps a move to the OF is in the cards

I like Peroza. See where he is at the end of 2023.

Hitters always get a chance. DH.LF,1B. Think Vientos.

Thanks for the shout-out to Jose Peroza. But he is not a bat first guy.
Baseball America named Peroza best fielding prospect in the Mets system.

For those of you that don't know, "John From Albany" joined Mack's Mets awhile back as a rookie writer. He is very tech savvy and really helped me clean up a broken site.

Decided to break off on his own and now has a very successful Mets link site.

He is sorely missed by all of us here.

Thanks Mack.

Peroza another RBI tonight (Friday).

Some things about Peroza from seeing him play these last few years for Brooklyn and Binghamton - 1) Between Baty, Vientos and Peroza - Peroza is the best fielder - hands down. 2) While he will have spurts of power his biggest asset is that he drives in runs at every level. I think Tom once called him an RBI machine. But, since he doesn't have high HR #'s or a high batting average he gets over looked - not like the Mets have a men LOB problem night in and night out. 3) He is a 7 year minor league free agent at the end of this year. Expect him to go elsewhere as he is blocked by Baty and Vientos on the Mets.

Oh and he is 22 - turning 23 in June - 7 months younger than Baty.
