Kyle Brown - Delano native Zach Muckenhirn makes MLB debut for Mets -
After seven seasons in the minor leagues, Delano, Minnesota, native Zach Muckenhirn made his MLB debut Wednesday for the New York Mets.
The Baltimore Orioles drafted Muckenhirn, 28, in the 11th round of the 2016 MLB Draft, 331st overall. He pitched 207 innings in the minor leagues over the past seven seasons before getting the call to the majors on Monday.
He graduated from Delano High School in 2013 and went on to play for the University of North Dakota. UND has since cut its baseball program, and Muckenhirn is the first player for the Fighting Hawks to make it to the big leagues.
Mack - Friday night the Mets used their A team relievers.
Muckenhirn will be one of the many used this year, looking for an adequate B team.

Jim Bowden - Underpreforming Players -
Starling Marte will turn 35 in October and is coming off a solid 2022 season in which he slashed .292/.347/.468 with 16 home runs and 18 stolen bases, though he was caught stealing nine times. However, in April, he hit .224 with one home run and has been caught stealing three times, which leads the NL. He looks like he’s lost a step in both foot and bat speed.
Mack - I would propose Mark Vientos be called up and spell both Marte and Cahna in the corners. He has the arm and can learn getting around out there with the Mets coaches on the Flushing team.
Matt Snyder - Mets owner Steve Cohen has looked into what it would cost to add retractable roof at Citi Field, per report -
Mets owner Steve Cohen is one who's looked into building a retractable roof for Citi Field, no surprise since he'll consider anything to improve Mets fan experience.
And word is Cohen was told it would cost $800 million to add a retractable roof, which seems to have given him pause to the point where he is currently considering it a missed opportunity.
Mack - I’m glad he checked this out, but $800 Million? Maybe the White House.
Cohen is a businessman. An investment like this produces no strikeouts or home runs and has a close to zero positive return. All home games that are lost are eventually played and fans come back to pay, pay, pay.

The thing about being a spring training sub as a youngster, Ian Kinsler explains, is your mind can wander. That’s when Buck Showalter would strike.
“I remember Buck walking up to me one day about the sixth inning — the lull of the game — and asking me to look him in the eye,” Kinsler said by phone recently. “He says, ‘Tell me the score. Tell me who’s hitting. Tell me who’s pitching. Tell me who’s on deck. Tell me if there’s a guy in the bullpen. How many outs? What’s the count?’ And I’m trying to look at the scoreboard. He said, ‘Keep looking at me.’
“He walked away and said, ‘That’s what I expect of you.’
“That’s how he works, that’s how he operates.”
Mack - I bascially like Buck and I think he does the best he can with what he has. The problem with this team is depth, hampered by injuries.

I expect Vientos by Memorial day.
Good points here, Mack. My only disagreement is that I don't want to see Vientos in the OF with zero reps there in the minors.
I'd like to see him play there exclusively upstate as an "audition" (which IMO should've happened in ST),then brought up if he "passes".
He can spell both Baty and Alonso one game a week (both could DH while he plays 3B and 2B).
Then spell both Cahna and Marte one game a week in the corners while they either rest or go on tours of assisted living facilities
That's 4 games a week before DHing once a week
1B not 2B
If he continues to rake and the Mets bats flounder I expect him by this time next week
The Golden Girls was a fun sitcom The Golden Boys or if you prefer The Mets are not as much fun. Look the Fish put Chisholm in CF with no prior experience so based on the mess were seeing everyday day on the big club and Marte's and Canha's fade to black how much worse can it be. We all are hoping this team can flip the script and win say 8 of 10 but not with the SP problem's so again let's play the kids and find out what we have long before the trade deadline and before another desparate attempt to save a lost season with another Biaz/Ruf disaster so Lets Go Mets but in a different direction and eliminate the deadwood as soon as possible.
Trying to understand why vientos didn't work on outfield play in offseason, why he wasn't force fed in spring training and now in aaa. We've heard they tried it and it was a disaster but for how long. They force fed Schwarber. Granted band box outfield but they are getting by with it. Play vientos in aaa outfield NOW. Position him deep. I know he's a zero twitch truckhorse but bat seems real. This has to be tried.
If he’s so good,play him everyday.Sink or swim,100 ABs every day. It’s not like Canha,Pham, Escobar are going to be missed nor Vogelbach. Vogelbach has good OBP but how much damage has he done?
Same said for Mauricio why did they wait so long to move him after we signed FL.
100 AB every DAY?? That'd be a new record, by a ton.
