Ronny Mauricio - the Final Missing Piece

The Shots Heard 'Round the World (OK, at least around MLB):

Trailing in the 7th on Wednesday, Mighty Mark Vientos electrified the crowd and jolted the team with his 2 run bomb to dead center.  Then Fantastic Francisco Alvarez scorched a rocket off the facing of the second deck in the 9th for a 3 run blast to the score at 5-5.  

It allowed Pounding Pete to be energized and hit a massive, come-from-behind 3 run bomb in the 10th.  

It makes me actually want to watch this team again.  

Now, finish the job - call up Ronny Mauricio:

Ronny Mo, a 6'3" 220 switch hitter who is hitting .358 with a .618 slug % in AAA, and .424 in 14 May games, reminds me of someone.

Ken Singleton - similar size and a switch hitter who could HIT.  After playing part of a season in AAA, the next season in 64 games was hitting .388 with a .703 slug %.

Keep in mind that Ken had a lot of AAA playing time from the season before, which Ronny didn't.

Ronny is ready, now, get him to Queens. This is all about replacing inept at bats from the Mets' marginal guys with the rising stars that will make the Mets' line up dangerous.

For now, I am penciling in Ronny Mo to replicate Singleton's major league output eventually...246 HRs, 1,065 RBIs, and a .388 lifetime on base %. Maybe that .388 is a tough target, so let's slightly revise that projection to 300 HRs, 1200 RBIs, and .360 OBP.

I don't know if you agree, or just like being wrong, but here's how I see it:

A line up with Nimmo, McNeil, Lindor, Pete, Marte, Baty, Vientos, Alvarez and Mauricio is a dangerous one, indeed.

I want that NOW.
