Newcomers: Outfielder Abraham Almonte and catcher Gary Sánchez were activated on the Syracuse roster today. Almonte started the season on Syracuse’s injured list and rehabbed with Low-A St. Lucie. The 33-year-old split 2022 between the Brewers’ and Red Sox’ organizations, hitting .293 in 80 Triple-A games with 66 RBIs, 18 home runs and 15 doubles. In his opening week with the Mets organization, he has not disappointed, going a combined 6- for-13 at the plate with two doubles, a home run and five runs driven in. Sánchez was an American League All-Star in 2019 and 2017 with the New York Yankees.

Missed Opportunities: Syracuse has been doomed this week by missed opportunities. The Mets squandered multiple-run leads in all four of their losses on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Syracuse has also left a combined 42 runners on base in the first five games of the series. The Mets have lost on walk-off hits by Buffalo in each of their defeats so far this week.
