Bisons Game Notes

TODAY’S GAME:

Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Rochester Red Wings in the fourth game of a five-game series from Coca-Cola Field (7:05p.m.). The Herd trails 2-1 in the series following last night’s 8-6 loss. On Friday, the Bisons welcome in the Lehigh Valley IronPigs for a four-game set.

vs. THE RED WINGS:

The Herd is 3-6 against Rochester this season. That record includes a 1-3 mark here at Coca-Cola Field. After having lost just one season-series to the Red Wings from 1998-2007 (93-66), the Bisons are now just 8-17 in their last 25 games against their closest rivals. The Herd lost nine of the final 10 games against Rochester during the 2008 season.

ON THE SNYD:

RHP Kyle Snyder is coming off one of his best starts of the season. The veteran allowed just one run on three hits in five innings on Friday to beat the Clippers in Columbus. The versatile pitcher has been used as a starter (9 starts) and as a reliever (19 appearances) this year. His 60 strikeouts on the year top all Bisons pitchers current on the team’s roster.

REY TO BE:

INF Argenis Reyes’ hit streak has reached 11 games. Reyes went 1-4 last night and has now averaged .340 (17-50) since the streak began on August 1. He also has two doubles, a triple, six RBI and three runs scored during the stretch. The streak is tied for the 3rd longest for a Bisons hitter this year, five games behind INF Javier Castillo’s team-high 16-game streak.

WELL-DESERVED:

INF Jesus Feliciano’s got a day off yesterday after playing in 65 consecutive games. He’s played in 104 games this year, 14 more than any other Bison (INF Mike Lamb, 90). Feliciano leads the Herd with his .303 batting average and his 120 hits are 3rd in the IL, just three behind Scranton/WB’s Austin Jackson. However, Lamb (40RBI) did leapfrog Feliciano (39RBI) last night for the team lead in runs driven in.

BISONS BITS:

RHP Jim Ed Warden has struck out nine batters in his first 5.0 innings with the team...As a team, the Bisons have averaged .361 (13-36) with runners in scoring position so far this series...INF Wilson Valdez has hit .284 (27-95) in his 31 games with the Bisons. C Robinson Cancel has seven hits in his last 11 at-bats (.636) over a three-game stretch.
