Blue Claws rally defeats Gnats in second game of series, 8-4


The second game of the four game series between the Lakewood Blue Claws and the Savannah Sand Gnats provided plenty of hitting for the 1,822 fans. The Blue Claws had 10 hits and the Gnats had 9 hits.
While the Sand Gnats were batting in the bottom of the first inning, it began to rain. The game was delayed for 37 minutes.
Starting Sand Gnat pitcher, Kyle Allen, was looking for his 8th win of the season and he had a good outing. Allen completed 5 innings, giving up 3hits, 3BB, 4 strike outs, and gave up 1 run(earned).
The top of the 6th inning the Gnats went to the bullpen and Orta entered the game. Orta walked the first two batters he faced, and after a pass ball and two wild pitches, a run scored. He closed out the inning by striking out the next three batters. Church and Burns also pitched in relief. The trio from the bull pen struggled, giving up 7hits, 7 runs, 6BB, 6 strike outs and 7 runs(5 earned).
Sand Gnat rightfielder, Evan LeBlanc, entered the contest batting .141. He went 3for4 with two singles and a double, drove in 2 runs, and scored a run. In the third inning, he made a diving catch of a ball hit near the righr field foul line.
Jefry Marte hit two singles for the Gnats.
