TODAY’S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Syracuse Chiefs in the first game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). The Herd has won four straight games, including a three-game rain-shortened sweep of the Rochester Red Wings to begin this homestand. The Bisons have won nine of their last 12 games and sit in 2nd place in the IL North Division (-1.5 games).

SERIOUSLY GOOD: The Bisons have won three consecutive series. The Herd took two of three over the Chiefs at Alliance Bank Stadium, April 20-22, and two of three from the IronPigs at Coca-Cola Park, April 23-25. The Bisons then won all three of the games that were played against Rochester, April 27-29.

THRUWAY CUP: The Bisons (7-3) have a two-game lead on Syracuse (4-4) in the 2012 Thruway Series standings. Rochester is in third place and 4-8. Buffalo has not won the Thruway Cup since the 2007 season.

OLE: At 0-1, LHPGARRETT OLSON is still in search of his first win of the season despite having the 13th lowest ERA in the International League at 2.82. The southpaw is coming off back-to-back quality starts. His most recent came last Tuesday in Lehigh Valley as he allowed three runs in six innings of an IronPigs’ 4-3 win in 11 innings.

STREAKIN’: All five Bisons players that had a personal season-high hit streaks extended them Sunday. INFVALENTINO PASCUCCI leads them all with a 13-game stretch over which he has hit .322 (19-58). The others are OFVINNY ROTTINO (11G, 15-44, .341), INF BOBBY SCALES (7G, 12-26, .462), INFJOSH SATIN (6G, 11-29, .379) and INF OMAR QUINTANILLA (6G, 7-23, .304).

LEADER BOARDS: The Bisons are tied with Pawtucket for the most home runs in the IL (30). The club is also 2nd in team average (.281) and third in team ERA (3.04). INF BOBBY SCALES leads the IL in average by 25 points (.413) and on-base percentage by 60 points (.522). INFVALENTINO PASCUCCI is tied for sixth in the league with 18RBI.

BISONS BITS: The Bisons have not won five straight games since rattling off eight consecutive wins, August 5-13, 2010...Fourteen different Bisons players have hit home runs this year...Buffalo is 13-1 when outhitting their opponents.

METS UPDATE: The Mets (13-10) lost 4-3 to the Astros from Houston last night. Former Bisons OFKIRK NIEUWENHUIS had two hits and two RBI to close out his first month in the major leagues with a .325 batting average. The Mets take on the Astros again tonight at 8:05 p.m. with former Bisons LHPJON NIESE on the mound.
