Since they were rebuffed on Ike Davis, I wonder if Murphy being the nearly $6 million man makes him the next one offered up aggressively in trade packages to try to either land a SS/Leadoff hitter or add to the pitching surplus? Then you could insert Flores at 2B with Young as a late inning backup/fallback plan.
I certainly hope not. I see Murphy as one of the few infield locks over the next 4-5 years. Then, hopefully, Herrera will be ready to challenge.
Trading Murph means, that whilst you might shore up say SS, we then destabilize 2nd.
