LAST GAME: The Binghamton Mets used a career night by Tyler Pill to beat the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 6-0, and complete a three-game sweep at NYSEG Stadium on Thursday. Pill tossed a career-high eight innings and struck out a season-high nine. He also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, a home run, two runs scored and four RBI. Dustin Lawley chipped in with two hits, including an RBI double in the fifth inning.
BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Hansel Robles takes the mound for the 13th time this season and the first against Bowie. The Bonao, Dominican Republic native picked up the win in his last outing. He tossed a complete-game shutout and struck out five in a 6-0 win in game two of a double header sweep over the Erie SeaWolves on Saturday, June 14. It was the fourth time this season Robles hasn’t allowed a run in a start. The righty signed with the Mets as a non-drafted free agent 2008.
BOWIE STARTER: LHP Jake Pettit makes his 14th start of the season and first against Binghamton. The southpaw is 0-2 in his last starts. That includes a 8-4 defeat against the Harrisburg Senators on Saturday, June 14. Petit went six innings in that one and allowed three runs. He’s given up six or more earned runs three times. The Western Oregon University product was taken by Baltimore in the 42nd round of the 2010 draft.
PILL SHOWS POISE AND POP: Binghamton starter Tyler Pill registered a career day on Thursday. The righty threw a career-high eight innings of three-hit ball and struck out a season-high nine. Pill also went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, a home run, two runs and four RBI. The Covina, California product finished a triple shy of the cycle. He owns four of the seven hits by Binghamton pitchers this season.
RICH-WHA?: Binghamton is coming off a dominant series sweep over Richmond. The B-Mets outscored the Flying Squirrels 17-2 over the three games. The starters gave up a combined one run in 22 innings and struck out 19. On the other side, Binghamton hit .299 against the Flying Squirrels with eight doubles and 17 RBI.
NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK: The B-Mets welcomed five players to the roster on Thursday from St. Lucie (High-A). Brandon Nimmo, Dilson Herrera and T.J. Rivera made their debuts on Thursday , went a combined 3-for-9 and each scored a run. LHP Steven Matz takes the hill for the first time on Saturday against Bowie. Meanwhile, RHP Randy Fontanez is stationed in the bullpen. All five were Florida State League All-Stars in the first half of the season.
ALL SYSTEMS GO: With a win on Thursday, Binghamton is now 9-1 in their last ten games. The B-Mets are hitting .313 during the stretch with 15 home runs and 66 RBI. On the other side, the pitchers have allowed just over two runs per game. The team has outscored opponents 71-24 during the streak, including giving up two runs or fewer six times.
K’S FOR DAYS: This series is a matchup of two of the best strikeout teams in the league. Binghamton ranks second in the Eastern League in that category with 562, while Bowie is third at 539. A big reason for the B-Mets K total is Matt Bowman. He is fifth in the league with 65 and takes the hill in his home state of Maryland on Sunday.
HOME SICK: At 26-13, Binghamton has the best home record in the league, but the team is only 15-18 on the road. The B-Mets are 3-6-1 in series away from NYSEG Stadium. That being said, they are coming off taking four of five in their most recent road trip to Akron.

Not a Bingo note, but Gulf Coast Mets kicked off with a win today, Lagares 0 for 4, rest of guys had 11 hits and 4 walks, and L Taylor (assume it is Logan Taylor back from injury) pitched a great 5 innings
