Game 6 Recap: Kingsport Mets vs Bluefield Blue Jays

Perez's 9th Inning Game Tying Double, Becerra Walk-Off Single Spark
K-Mets Come-From-Behind Win

KINGSPORT, TENN

Through 8 innings Kingsport could not get that clutch hit.  Then the 9th inning happened.  Down 5-3 with two on and two out and two strikes 1B Pedro Perez belted a CF double to tie the game at 5.  RF Wuilmer Becerra then plated Perez with a walk-off single to win the game 6-5.  The bench immediately cleared in celebration.  This is the type of game you love to be apart of.

Overall, the squad bashed out 13 hits.  Brandon Brosher continued his hitting streak going 2 for 4 (2 singles).  C Miguel Leal also had a great game going 2 for 4 and upping his average to .400.

Through 6 games Brosher is batting .421, Caraballo is at .350, and Becerra is at .333.

SP Andrew Massie (ND - 3.00 ERA) had a strong outing going 6 innings and allowing 4 runs (2ER) while fanning 4.  RP Martires Arias continued his strong pitching performance this season.  He picked up the win for Kingsport (3-3) going the final 3 innings and striking out 6 batters.  His ERA stands at 1.04.

Kingsport had plenty of opportunities to score runs before the 9th inning.  The team left 11 men on base and was only 3 for 16 with RISP.

Bluefield got on the board early in the 1st thanks to 2 errors by LF Vicente Lupo (who was later pulled from the game).  The Mets had 5 errors overall which led to 3 unearned runs for Bluefield (2-4).

However the 9th inning heroics by Perez and Becerra made up for the sloppy defensive miscues.

Kingsport now hits the road for 6 straight games.  First up is Princeton (3-3) followed by a 3 game set at Johnson City.

Christian Montgomery (0-1, 40.50 ERA) is set to take the mound for his second outing of the season Wednesday night.

WORTH NOTING:  This was the first game Kingsport did not have a home run, but still leads the league in home runs hit (7).  Kingsport is tied for 1st place in the West Division with 3 other teams boasting the same (3-3) record.

A teachable moment for Mr. Lupo, apparently.
