Brosher's Blasts Propel Kingsport To Its First Win Of The Young Season
KINGSPORT, TENN
Kingsport's offense finally came alive in the final regular season home matchup against the Danville Braves. Kingsport's young squad belted out 13 hits included two 2-run deep blasts by catcher Brandon Brosher as Kingsport (1-2) defeated Danville (2-1) 9-5.
Brosher led the team with 3 hits and 4 RBIs. Three of K-Mets had multi-hit games as well. RF Caraballo, 3B Eudor Garcia, and 2B Leon Canelon had 2 hits each and a total of 4 RBIs.
SS Luis Guillorme went 1/5 on the night but drove in 2 runs on a deep double. He also played excellent defense on the field.
CF Ivan Wilson had another tough night. He managed to get a single, but struck out in each of his other 3 at-bats. He is 1 for 8 in his last 8 at-bats with 6 of these appearance being strikeouts.
On the mound starter Yoan Gonzalez went long into the game pitching 7 innings of 2 run baseball. He had excellent stuff tonight and his performance was just what the Mets needed in achieving their first victory.
Kingsport's 6 game homestand continues as the Bluefield Blue Jays (1-2) come into town. Game 1 of the series is Sunday at 6pm.
WORTH NOTING: Kingsport had its first successful stolen bases tonight - a double steal by Lupo and Canelon. Kingsport successfully implemented a safety squeeze play - something rarely seen in baseball anymore. Two Mets defensive errors resulted in 3 unearned runs for Danville. Kingsport has hit a home run in each of its first three games.
